Department of the Air Force General Order No. 2

You've seen the date before, many times: in books, in periodicals, and elsewhere. January 13, 1948. You've noticed this is frequently shown as the date many bases changed designation from "Army Air Field" to "Air Force Base."

Here, for your viewing pleasure, is the source document for these changes. This is the first of many Department of the Air Force orders to announce changes in designation, status, or assignment of installations.

Five pages of this document are shown here. Please note, the order itself has additional pages, but I only copied those with installation information. My photocopy was made from an original in the Authority Section of the Air University Library, and I thank them for making it available.
