The former Ent Air Force Base (AFB) is now the United States Olympic Training Center. Ent had its start in 1943 as Headquarters Second Air Force; by the time the base transferred from the Army to the Air Force in 1948 it was called Headquarters Fifteenth Air Force. It was designated Ent AFB on June 10, 1949, and the designating order called it the former Colorado Springs Tent Camp. Ent AFB was inactive from December 1949 to January 1951, and then remained active until 1975. The Combat Operations Center was moved from Ent's Building 4 into the Cheyenne Mountain complex. Ent AFB was then assigned to Peterson AFB, and may have been known as Ent Annex. A Department of the Air Force order shows the transfer of Ent AFB from Air Defense Command to Strategic Air Command on October 1, 1979; and an Air Force Space Command order shows Ent AFB disposed of on December 12, 1990.

Building numbers and uses listed below are from a 1965 base guide. I visited the former Ent AFB in May 2002, and in September and November 2010.
