This website shares some of my research into the history, design, and use of U.S. Air Force installations and, to a lesser degree, Army Nike missile facilities, coastal gun batteries, and unusual Naval facilities. My focus is on the 20th Century, primarily World War II and the Cold War. I don't keep up with current events.

This information does not reflect the views of the U.S. Air Force or U.S. Army. I am a hobbyist. I use official documents for most of my research, but the interpretation and conclusions are strictly my own. Please note that I do not share specific locations of properties when, in my opinion, it may interfere with security or privacy.

Trip Reports - Follow my travels from 1994 to the present time as I search for military properties of the past.

Places - Pages dedicated to individual places or groups of similar places. Most will include photographs from multiple visits.

AAF/USAF - Pages related to WWII-era and Cold War-era topics.

Uploads - Reference documents, most of which I scanned myself and are not yet available on other websites.

I started this website on June 25, 1998, as a free site on tripod.com. I obtained the domain name airforcebase.net on April 17, 2000.

Feel free to contact me using the address historian at airforcebase dot net.
